This USB to M.2 Key B 4G 5G Modem Adapter with Dual SIM Card Slots has two NANO SIM card slots, and uses the convenient “Click / Click” style slot. The SIM card slots are positioned perpendicular to the adapter board, on the top of the adapter.
It is useful for attaching a 3G 4G LTE and 5G NGFF M.2 key B form factor (both 3042 and 3052) cellular modem cards (i.e., the Sierra Wireless and Quectel EM series as well as the new longer 5G modules) directly to a PC, or router USB slot.
Also great for remote modem placement using a USB cable of 12′ or less.
The Screw Pillar used for holding down your modem card is removable to change between 3042 (4G) and 3052 (5G) form modem modules.
We use these type adapters to flash firmware onto M.2 NGFF Key B cellular modem modules.
- When using a SIM Card adapter (i.e., micro to standard, etc), take precaution that the SIM card fits “freely” and flat into the adapter. In other words, you should not have to force the SIM card into the adapter. A SIM card that is too tight, when installed in the SIM slot, can rise and cause a misalignment between the adapter pins and SIM card. All tits/nubs on the side of the SIM card should be sanded smooth. This is easily done with a laying a nail file/emery board/piece of sand paper flat on table top, and working the SIM card evenly across until smooth.
- This USB adapter will not work with the mini PCI-E modem cards (i.e., Sierra Wireless MC series cards and Quectel EC/EP series cards). The USB to mini PCI-E adapter must be used.
- In order for a Windows based PC to recognize most modem cards, regardless of how it is being attached, the modem manufacturers Windows drivers must first be installed on the Windows device. Refer to our LTE FIX IT Series tutorial
